What Day Are We Living In?

As I write this the war in Iran continues, Israel continues in its battle for existence, and many End-time websites are churning out material concerning how we are in the last days, Armageddon, Gog and Magog, and related topics.  I am not going to add to that here nor will I express an opinion regarding whether these predictions, prophetic revelations or biblical interpretations are correct. I think we need another approach all together!

If we want to understand how and when the end of this age will come it is critical that we consider God’s purpose. Why did God create the heavens and the earth? What was He intending to accomplish? It is a good bet that when this age comes to its end, we will be at the point where God intended to arrive. Simply mining Revelation, Daniel, and Matthew 24 for predictions of catastrophes associated with the return of Christ has proven unproductive for the church. Since the mid 1800s predictions concerning the antichrist, 666, the 10 toes, the mark of the beast, and whether a particular war or disaster is the final one that will bring back Jesus have been regularly offered by Christian writers, pastors, prophets, and preachers. So far there is a 0-batting average for all of those predictions. Yet we do not seem willing to consider that perhaps it is our approach that is wrong and not simply a mistake regarding the details.

There have been famines, wars, and disasters for the past 2000 years and no doubt they will continue until Christ returns. Perhaps those tragedies and events will worsen as we approach the end? But if we truly want to see Christ return and the end of the age, we must consider how we can cooperate with what God is doing. That presumes that we have some idea of what He is doing if we are going to work with His plan and program.

That information is not found in Revelation, Daniel, or Matthew 24, it is found in Genesis and throughout scripture. Paul provides the greatest summary of God’s purpose in Ephesians 1-3. I encourage you to explore these chapters carefully. I have provided verse by verse teaching on YouTube at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCdzSSGiPoHhkzIFcxoK1snQ.

There is no easy way to truly study scripture, it takes time and effort. I am trying to point us in the right direction in these videos, but the exploration will be up to each of us. My purpose in these teaching videos is to inspire you to look more closely at scripture, to pray more fervently and to seek God with all your heart for the important answers we need.
